The Caldecott Medal is awarded each year to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. The award was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. The cover of his book The Babes in the Woods is on the right. Read more about Caldecott at Wikipedia.
