More Information

Although this pathfinder has lots of information, you may still need to search for your own stuff. For instance, if you want a pet bird or gerbil this website does not have the information you need. However, if you look below you will learn tips on finding information about them.

How about if you need to know something about fish that you couldn't find in the "fish" section. Another example of when you would use the search tips below. If you follow these tips you should be on your way to finding some more great resources.

Books

All of the books found in this website can be checked out from our local Howard County library. They have many wonderful books there and we could only pick a few to show on our website! If you can't find the right book on this pathfinder, check out the other great books they have. Below are the sections you might find them in the children's department.

  Dogs Section # 636.7
  Cats Section # 636.8
  Fish Section # 639.34 or 597
Rabbits Section # 636.93
Gerbils and Hamsters Section # 636.93
  Birds Section # 636.6
  Pets (In General) Section #636

You may also go to their website and do a search in the children's department for books. This will let you find and reserve the books without being at the library. To do this follow the steps below:

1) Go to the library website's advance search screen.

2) Type in the name of the animal you want extra information on (such as bird, rabbit, or dog) in the first box (next to the drop down box that says "Any Field").

3) In the drop down box that is next to the words "Material Type" push the down arrow to drop down the box.

4) Click on BOOK JUV.

5) Click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page.
