Many models and approaches can be taken to teach students about the inquiry process. Callison's components of inquiry (shown in logo below right) include questioning, exploring, assimilating, inferring, and reflecting. 

These basic elements provide the foundation for many of the models such as The Big 6 and Inquiry Ws.
