photograph of Ramona HoA virtual Aloha to our guest, Ramona Ho. Ramona is the Head Librarian at Charles Reed Bishop Learning Center, Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus. The Kamehameha Schools are located in Pukalani on the gentle slopes of Haleakala. It is currently home to 1,084 students, grades K-12. Facilities at the 180-acre campus include a 2,200-seat stadium, two full-size gymnasiums, six classroom buildings, and two learning centers. Ramona is in charge of the high school center; a facility that she helped plan and build seven years ago. Her winter break is October 3rd-11th, and she has agreed to interact with the class via the course blogsite.

Ramona's knowledge expertise is centered in Hawaiian / Pacific Literature and Reference. She completed her MLS at the University of Hawaii in 1980 and began her career as a reference librarian in a one-year grant position funded by the March of Dimes at the University's Medical School. From there she moved to a Head Librarian position at a private high school (5 years) followed by a position as a reference / instructional librarian at a community college (4 years). Romona also has an elementary teaching degree and has taught 5th grade (3 years).

In 1990, Ramona completed a MLIS degree at University of Hawaii. She then became the Head Librarian of a large public high school library (10 years). In 2001 Kamehameha Schools Maui was in the process of building a new high school (http://maui.ksbe.edu/high/). Ramona says, "This is truly my dream job."
