photograph of Maria SavoldiMaria Savoldi currently serves as a technology support specialist for Georgia Virtual School, a program of the Georgia Department of Education. Since 2006 Maria has worked in various capacities for Georgia Virtual School including serving as the Program Coordinator for Internal Technology, but enjoys this position the most as it allows her to work with all members of the GAVS learning community and taps into the technological skills she’s developed over the years. An added bonus is that her position is “green” which allows her to tele-work from wherever she happens to be!

Prior to working with the Georgia Virtual School program, Maria spent 14 years serving Georgia schools in a range of roles including teacher, media specialist and county director of instructional media and technology. She has designed and delivered numerous professional learning courses that foster effective technology integration. Maria is a past-president of the Division of School Media and Technology of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology ( AECT). As president of the Georgia Association for Instructional Technology (GAIT), Maria established a virtual meeting place for educators to collaborate and promote best practices

As a firm believer in the value of collaboration and professional development, Maria attends and presents at state and national educational conferences and spent several years working as a trainer for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards™ in the Library Media certificate area.

Maria holds a Masters degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University, a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Penn State University and earned her teaching credentials through Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.

When she is able to find some spare time, Maria enjoys reading and relaxing on the beach at her Florida home.
