West Glacier

Although we spent much of the summer in Montana, we worked most of the time. When we had some free time, we enjoyed driving to Whitefish for the farmer's market and arts/crafts shows. We tried to get tickets for the author/actor John Lithgow show at the Whitefish Theatre, but they were sold out. Lithgow has a home in the area. We managed to get tickets for two summer plays: Camelot and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Annette spent much of the summer doing professional development workshops in places like Pennsylvania and Virginia.

We took a few afternoon trips into Glacier National Park. One day we stopped at Apgar Visitor Center, drove up Camas Road, and walked along Camas Creek. The air was filled with bright blue dragonflies.

We also took a hike in an area of the park that burned when we visited the last time. Called Huckleberry Mountain Nature Trail, the area is being reborn including lots of birds and wildflowers.

It seemed like whenever we left the RV park, we encountered a train. We took lots of train photographs. Long ago the trains were the main way that tourists arrived at the park.

One of the highlights of our summer was the opportunity to hear Jack Gladstone sing. A popular folksinger, we attended two of his shows. First we attended a show at the Lake McDonald Lodge. Annette talked with Jack before the show.

The second show was at the Apgar campground with the lake in the background. Jack's son sang one of the songs.

haircut

Larry likes to keep his hair short and it's not always easy to find a good place to get a hair cut. We bought a part of hair clippers so that Annette could try her hand as a hair designer. With a little direction from Larry, she successfully completed her first work of hair art. How does he look?

dragonfly

We were amazed at the variety of dragonflies and damselflies in the area. It's difficult to get good photographs, but the dragonfly on the left was very cooperative.
