Larry Johnson

Dr. Larry Johnson has been a classroom teacher, middle/high school library/media specialist, and university level instructional designer and media services administrator. He recently completed his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University with a minor in Business Management. Dr. Johnson has published articles on organizational management, computer graphics, K-12 Internet Integration, and instructional media. In addition, he has presented numerous conference sessions and workshops on these topics. He has consulted with several corporate and educational organizations in the area of instructional design and development. Dr. Johnson is actively involved in AECT. He is Past Chairperson of the Leadership Committee and has acted as co-chairperson at three AECT Summer Leadership Conferences. He has co-authored four educational technology books with Annette Lamb including Strap on Your Spurs: Technology & Change Cowboy Style, Surfin' the Internet: Practical Ideas from A to Z. and Cruisin' the Information Highway: Internet in the K-12 Classroom. Their most recent collaboration is 42eXplore: Thematic Internet Integration.


Dr. William L. Smith is an Associate Professor of Management in the School of Business at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. He teaches, conducts research and writes in the Business Management area. He teaches Services Management via the Internet and has had students as far away as Stockholm, Sweden, in his classes. Dr. Smith began his business career with Space Technology Laboratories, served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for General Electric Company. He served in state government as an aide to the Governor of Iowa and as Deputy Commissioner of the Iowa Department of Social Services. After owning and operating a nationally franchised accounting service firm specializing in small businesses, he earned his Ph.D. in Management from the University of Arizona. Dr. Smith has published over 80 articles on business acumen in a variety of trade publications as well as academic articles. His academic travels have taken him to conferences throughout the United States as well as to England and France. Dr. Smith and Dr. Lamb co-authored the book Virtual Sandcastles: Teaching and Learning at a Distance. In addition to distance learning, his current research interests are in web-based tourism and venue management.
