Redefining Yourself and Your Program:
Think Different

zooDuring the past fifty years, zoos have redefined themselves. No longer viewed as simply a place where animals are displayed, many of today's zoos play essential conservation roles. The San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park supports the Conservation and Research for Endangered Species program. This program supports projects related to sustainable populations, bioresource banking, wildlife health, habitat conservation, restoration biology, and conservation education. For example, the Prezwalski’s horse is extinct in the wild but has recently been reintroduced in its native Asia.

Our school library media centers have evolved much like zoological gardens. No longer are they simply warehouses for books and other resources. Today's libraries are engaging learning environments that promote information fluency and a passion for inquiry.
