Combine text and visual activities. Use a visual to provide a focus for student writing. For active students, print out photos and ask students organize and arrange, then discuss or write about their project.
 
Activity 1: Animal Poetry

Use the following visual websites to identify and copy an animal photo:

Copy a picture and paste it into KidPix or Kidspiration. Write a name poem using the first letters of the animal's name. Include at least three facts. Use Enchanted Learning or Animal Bytes for animal information.
