Deborah Levitov is currently the Managing Editor of two magazines, School Library Activities Monthly and Crinkles. Both are owned by Libraries Unlimited. This is a new postition as of June, 2005. Until June, Deb served for 11 years as the Coordinator for Library Media Services for Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. Prior to the administrative position, she was a school library media specialist for 14 years, at both elementary and secondary levels.

Her library service started while working on her master's degree when she worked for the public libraries in various capacities, e.g., driving a book mobile, working in children and young people's services, the circulation department, and reader services. She has been very active in her state association and nationally with AASL. Other endeavors have involved teaching for the library media endorsement program when it was at the Universtiy of Nebraska--Lincoln, serving as the project coordinator for a book published by Libraries Unlimited, The Guide for Developing and Evaluating School Library Media Programs (2000), and editing and compiling The Guide to Integrated Information Literacy Skills for Lincoln Public Schools and the Lincoln Public Schools Foundation (1995, 1998, 2005).

She is in the process of working on her Ph.D. in Information Science at the University of Missouri at Columbia and is working with Mansfield University to conduct a study related to the online course that is offered for administrators.

In her other life she has a family of five, which, with the addition of a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and a new grandbaby, brings the Levitov count to eight. Reading is a sport, as is walking and biking, but traveling is a passion that can't be done enough. The books that have been enjoyed recently are The Time Travelers Wife, The Dante Club, Vanishing Act, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Kite Runner (in process).
