James Monroe
(1758-1831)
James Monroe was the fifth President of the United States. Considered the last President of the Founding Fathers era, he served from 1817 to 1825.
Born in Westmoreland County (VA), he attended the College of William and Mary. In addition to serving in the Continental Army, he also practiced law in Fredericksburg (VA).
Family Connection
Larry and I are both the 2nd cousin (5x removed) of President James Monroe. James Monroe’s parents are Annette’s 7th Great Aunt and Larry’s 6th Great Uncle.

Susanna Monroe (1695-1752) was President James Monroe’s great aunt. Susanna had three husbands and a bunch of kids.
Her first husband was Charles Tyler, Annette’s 7th Great Uncle.
Her third husband was Benjamin Grayson, Larry’s 7th Great Grandfather.
